Covid-19 Updates

Christmas Break Procedures

Dear Aquinas Students and Families,

As Christmas Break approaches, we have created a plan that will help in keeping everyone safe and during the pandemic. The plan below is a combination of the New York Department of Health Toolkit, New York State Travel Advisory, and the Archdiocese of New York’s travel protocol. Christmas Break begins on Wednesday, December 23rd and ends on Sunday, January 3rd, 2021. The first day from the break is Monday, January 4th, 2021. In order to allow travelers to quarantine and test, the first week after the break is fully remote week.

For hybrid students who were in another state for more than 24 hours:

● Students must obtain a test within three days of departure from that state.

● The student, upon arrival in New York, must quarantine for three days.

● On the fourth day of their quarantine, the student must obtain another COVID-19 test. If

both tests come back negative, the student may return to the school building on their specific group day during the week of December 7th.

For hybrid students who were in another state for more than 24 hours and do not obtain a COVID-19 test:

● Students must quarantine for 14 days.

● Students will attend remote classes from January 4th, 2021- January 15th, 2021.

● Students may return to the school building on Tuesday, January 19th, 2021.

December 23rd, 2020-January 3rd, 2021 --------No School

January 4th, 2021-January 8th, 2021--------------Remote Learning for All Students

January 11th, 2021-----------------------------------Hybrid Students Return (Three days of quarantine and two negative tests required)

January 19th, 2021-----------------------------------Hybrid Students Return (14 days of quarantine required if student did not obtain two negative tests)

We recommend that all families, traveling or not, exercise caution and follow CDC guidelines on how to protect each other from COVID-19. We will communicate information for Christmas Break in the next month depending on the evolving nature of the pandemic and local and national guidelines.
