This course investigates the movements that have shaped world history beginning with the Enlightenment. Cause and effect relationship of revolution, imperialism, industrialization, and world war are emphasized. Special attention is paid to essay writing with the use of primary sources. This course examines the history of the human experience from a global perspective in order to develop a greater understanding of the evolution of global processes and contacts. The course highlights the nature of changes in international frameworks and their causes and consequences as well as providing comparisons among societies. The course emphasizes analytical and critical thinking and the development of writing skills necessary for success in a college level history course. AP exam in May followed by Global Regents exam in June. (1 Unit)
PREREQUISITES: Global I Honors students must have an 85% average and teacher recommendation; Global I Regents students must have a teacher recommendation. Candidates must complete a summer assignment. Space is limited. AP Exam Fee: $95; book purchase required.
