This is an inquiry-based science class focusing on modern forensic methodologies and the application of scientific methods to solve legal problems. This course will include collection and analysis of crime scene evidence, such as serology, toxicology, entomology, and trace evidence, as well as the exploration of lab analysis techniques, such as chromatography, DNA analysis, and fingerprinting. Class will incorporate hands-on lab-based experiences, as well as several long-term projects. (1 Unit)
PREREQUISITES: Successful completion of Biology and Chemistry/Human Physiology and a strong interest in Forensic Science and its applications. Students seeking a Regents science sequence or career in mathematics or science should not select this course. CLASS IS OPEN TO JUNIORS AND SENIORS ONLY.
