Annual Fund

Your Giving Is the Key to our Progress

We believe that women's strengths and women's voices have a vital role in today's complex and changing world...

...This conviction underlies every effort for the advancement of Aquinas High School, year by year. Our community of faith and learning is committed to providing the best in Catholic education for the young women of Aquinas today.

The Validation Team for the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools found "excellence in the air" when they visited Aquinas last October. This campaign is the means of keeping Aquinas equipped for excellence, while maintaining tuition within reach of the families we serve. Every dollar raised will be spent this school year to provide the students with the very best in Catholic education.

As we begin the 2008-2009 school year, we ask that you recommit yourselves to the mission and beliefs of Aquinas.  By your gift, please help us to achieve our goal of $400,000 for this year. The Annual Fund '08 -'09 will provide: tuition support for needy students, ongoing refurbishment of the building, upgrading of technology, math and science enrichment programs, and new opportunities for student awareness of career paths.

Support for the Annual Fund ensures the continuation of academic excellence at Aquinas High School, and secures its mission for future generations of young women in the Bronx.

Thank you for your prayers and your generous gifts. Your support is key to the enduring mission of Aquinas.

The Annual Campaign ends on June 30. If you have not already done so, please send a gift within your means to share in the mission of Aquinas today. Don't forget an online gift is possible:  see the top of this page for details.

Some comments from those who attended:
Aquinas build a great foundation for me....College was much easier because of my preparation at Aquinas...I definitely felt I was well prepared and at ease when it came to hitting the books!...Freshman year of college was so much easier because of the exposure to information and preparation...Aquinas was my foundation and helped me with all my subjects, especially with English and Math...My professors were impressed!...I truly love this school and I appreciate how much the people in this building have done for me.
These graduates are working in the fields of :
teaching, trading sales, communications, business ownership, marketing, and human resources

WAYS TO HELP

Just as alumnae are proud of their Alma Mater, Aquinas is proud of the accomplishments of its alumnae throughout and beyond the United States. The generosity of alumnae is a major support of Aquinas' mission to the young women of New York City today.

Career Forum
The Sophomore Class participates in the Future Options Forum each year. Students have the opportunity to meet with panelists and receive information and suggestions in career areas of their choice. Most of the panelists are alumnae, and the forum and luncheon which follows provide a gathering of Aquinas women making a difference in many paths of life. The next Future Option Forum will be held in March 2009. If you would like to share your career experience and offer suggestions to Aquinas 10th graders, please call the school Development Office. Panelists are assured of a great welcome from an enthusiastic group of young women.

A REFURBISHED ENVIRONMENT BRINGS NEW VISION TO YOUNG ARTISTS AT AQUINAS

The art studio at Aquinas has been transformed and the creations coming forth testify to the effects of environment upon learning and productivity. With the backing of major gifts from individual benefactors, a full-scale renovation of the art studio was undertaken and completed this past summer...

MAREN GRANT ACHIEVES VITAL GOAL: TECHNOLOGY ACROSS THE CURRICULUM

When the Thomas H. Maren Foundation funded the Integration of Technology Program at Aquinas High School in April, 2003, its goal was to assure that every student would further her technology skills in every discipline. The fruits of the grant are evident across the curriculum. A glimpse of just a few student projects gives an inkling of the impact of this initiative...

SCIENCE LABS TRANSFORMED BY RECORD-MAKING KNUEVEN GRANT

(l. to r.) Sr. Catherine Rose Quigley, Sr. Margaret Ryan, Georgia & Gerald Knueven, and Sr. Maryann Summa, President of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill

Aquinas High School celebrated the dedication of its 21st Century Science Center on October 20, 2004. All of the Aquinas school community joined in celebrating a dream-come-true through the generosity of the Knueven Family Foundation. This past summer the chemistry, physics and earth science labs were completely transformed from the inside out. New wiring and plumbing reached deep into walls and floors, and flat panel work stations and beautiful cabinets provided a sleek, new exterior. While the physical plant was being renewed, so were the science teachers.

AQUINITES AROUND THE WORLD

Have you ever wondered what life was like outside the United States? Have you ever wanted to learn another language while being immersed in a culture completely different from your own? Well, you will be amazed to know that several students here at Aquinas have accomplished all those things and more by participating in Summer Study Abroad Programs.
