The purpose of the organization shall be to create an enthusiasm for
scholarship, to develop character, to promote leadership, and to stimulate
a desire to render service in the students of Aquinas High School. Members
of the Chapter shall be known as provisional, active, and graduate.
Membership shall be based upon scholarship, character, leadership and
service.
Requirements for membership are:
Scholarship -
An average of 90.0% or higher
with no mark under 85.0% and a passing grade in Physical Education.
Character - Desirable
qualities of personality, responsibility,
honesty, fairness and tolerance.
Leadership -
Poise, self-confidence, participation in and promotion of school activities,
positions of responsibility, initiative in studies and industry.
Service - Puts service to others
above self-interests, serves
class and school community.
Active membership is open to students from grades ten through twelve.
All potentially qualified candidates are given just consideration, but
only those students who deserve the high honor and will meet the responsibilities
of the National Honor Society will be elected. Induction into the Aquinas
Chapter of the National Honor Society will follow the second quarter
marking period.
No honor or responsibility conferred by the school excels that represented
by the National Honor Society. Aquinas also has a Spanish,
French, Art, Technology and
Quill and Scroll Honor
Society. Each of these societies represent the fundamental
objectives for which schools are instituted and gives recognition to
those who have attained most nearly the desired ends. These organizations
seek to improve scholarship and to place the regular and faithful performance
of academic work in its proper place in the estimation of faculty and
student body.
